By Public Bus and MTR (Metro)

Upon arrival at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), proceed to Exit B after clearing customs. You will then arrive at Arrival Hall B. Keep walking forward and exit through the ramp. Turn right after exiting the building and you will see the airport public bus terminal.

    HKIA Plan

Board public bus router number A43 (to Fanling) which operates by Long Win from 7:00 am to midnight. The fare will be HKD$30.90 (you will need to prepare the exact change if you don’t have a MTR Octopus Card). Board the bus to Sheung Shui bus stop. The duration is about 1 hour long, not including the waiting time for the bus. You will then walk to Sheung Shui MTR station which is only a few metres away from the bus stop.

Board the MTR towards Lo Wu station. The duration is about 10 minutes excluding any waiting time. The fare is about HKD$20. Alight at Lo Wu station and walk to the China immigrations building. The process may take 15 minutes to an hour as it can be extremely crowded with long queues during peak hours. A proper China Visitor Visa is required in order for you to clear China immigrations.

Once you have cleared China immigration and customs, walk to Shenzhen Metro Luohu Station. There will be signs directing you there. Board the MTR from Luohu Station at Luobao Line towards Airport East and alight at Convention and Exhibition Center Station.

    By Cross-Border Coach Services

The service counters are located at Hong Kong Airport Terminal 2 counters C10 to C14 (follow signs of Mainland Coaches). These counters are operated by different companies that provide different routes and drop-off points. Ensure that you check with each company to see what works best for your desired destination in Shenzhen.

Cross-border coach services generally operates every hour from 7:00am to 10:00 pm. Some services have more frequent departures (as fast as every 15 minutes) during peak periods. Fare to the borders is around HKD$100 and fares to the drop-off points inside Shenzhen range from HKD$180 to HKD$220.

You will board the coach at Terminal 2 just behind the counters. The duration to the border takes roughly 30 minutes. When you reach the Hong Kong side of the checkpoint, you have to get your luggage and get off the coach. You will have to walk a few minutes, up and down a few stairs along the way.

Lok Ma Chau/ Huanggan Crossing: You will have to board the coach again after clearing Hong Kong immigrations. The coach will then take you to the China side of the checkpoint where you will have to take your luggage and get off the coach again for China immigrations.

Shenzhen Bay Crossing: You do not need to board and get off the coach a second time because the Hong Kong and China Immigrations are in the same building. When you have cleared China immigrations, you will be collected by an agent of the coach company who will take you to board a different coach for the rest of the journey in Shenzhen. The agent will recognize you by the colorful sticker on your chest that was given to you when you purchased your tickets. Beware of scammers who pretend to be agents of coach companies and approach you for extra fees. Real agents usually have uniforms or badges and do not ask you for money.

    By Taxi

Upon arrival at Hong Kong Airport, proceed to the taxi station located outside Arrival Hall A. Exit the arrival hall and turn left – you will see a line of taxis and people queuing for them. There are two crossings that you can go through to get to Shenzhen: via Lok Ma Chau Border – Huanggang Crossing or Shenzhen Bay Crossing.

Lok Ma Chau Border – Huanggang Crossing: This is the only border that operates 24 hours. It does not have a connected MTR/ Metro system and is mainly for ground transportation travelers. There are two immigration offices that are separated by a fairly long road/ bridge. When arriving at this checkpoint, you will have to get off at the Hong Kong Immigration building and go through Hong Kong customs. You will then have to buy a ticket and take a yellow shuttle bus to the China Immigration building which is about roughly 7 minutes. Once you have cleared the China customs, you will exit the building and try to get a taxi in the queue.

Shenzhen Bay Crossing: Operates from 6:30am to midnight daily. Both Hong Kong and China immigration officers are located in the same building. Once you have cleared both customs in the same building, you can exit and line up to get a taxi.
