    Modeling

A Fourier Model of Periodic Dynamic Speech Balloons

In the paper, we propose a Fourier model to represent the dynamics of a speech balloon. Using this model, we can generate various dynamic speech balloons with different styles. Experimental results have demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed model.

Aurora 3D-Measurement and Visualization Using Fish-Eye Stereo Camera

Three-dimensional measurement of aurora, especially based on image analysis, is highly difficult problem because corresponding points on images are hard to detect because of its transparency and non-rigidity. We proposed three-dimensional measurement methodology of aurora using a pair of fish-eye cameras and visualized the 3D-shape.

Camera Synchronization to Imperceptible Frames Embedded in a Displayed Video Sequence

A camera automatically synchronizing to short-time invisible frames embedded in a video sequence is proposed, which will enable, for example, to retrieve additional information hidden in a digital signage display. Synchronization between the camera and the display is implemented with a phase-locked loop algorithm treating images as input.

Diffusion: Change the Ambience of a Space with a Small Amount of Ink

We created an interactive art exhibition, Diffusion, which enables visitors to change the entire ambience of the exhibition room by using actual coloring matter. It helped visitors experience their inner feelings and emotions visually and acoustically. In this poster, we describe how the installation of the exhibition was performed.

    Emotional Color Theme Extraction

This paper introduces the conception of emotional color theme, introducing the color emotion theory into color theme extraction, and proposes a novel emotion color theme extraction framework. Our novel method can be applied in the field of color transfer, image enhancement, and image quality assessment.

Extrinsic Camera Parameters Estimation from Arbitrary Co-planar Circles

A convenient and feasible method to estimate the extrinsic camera parameters with arbitrary co-planar two circles in a single image captured in everyday scenes.

Figure-Ground Image Generation using Contour Matching and Rigid Shape Deformation

We present an automatic technique that composes an ambiguous figure-ground images from two binary images with one served as figure and the other as ground. Our system assists users to easily compose and create figure-ground images. It provides artists significant flexibility for their creativity.

QR Code Embellishment with Background Facial Image Embedding

A novel method for QR code embellishment with background facial image embedding is proposed. This method makes use of the encoding redundancy of existing QR codes. The generated QR codes are more visual-pleasing with original color image embedding than existing methods.

Sparsity-based Color Quantization with Preserved Image Details

We proposed a colour reduction method considering together the colour and spatial space. We model the color reduction and detail preserving problem into one optimization problem. Our result, which is details preserved and color reduced, could help improve some image processing methods such as decolorization, non-photorealistic stylization and so on.
